How do you know when you need to redesign your website? There are 3 main indicators that can help you answer the question “Does my website need a facelift?” These include the ease of use; lack of responsiveness, which we will explain below; and finally, if your business has changed and your website just doesn’t reflect that.
Now if you look at your website and see that it is stale, or tired or that it hasn’t been updated since 2012, then you don’t need to read on; it’s time to redesign your website. If you want to learn more about designing a website, we can help you with that!
Now let’s get to those indicators we talked about above. Maybe your website still looks fairly fresh, and it isn’t 10 years old, so how do you know if you should be planning a redesign?
Is Your Website Easy to Use?
The best way to test out the ease of use for your website is to ask someone to check it out for you. They can navigate through the tabs as though they are a potential customer. Are they able to clearly make their way through the site without any confusion or frustration? If you have an ecommerce website, are they able to place orders and receive a confirmation email? If your website has a “Contact Us” section, are they actually able to contact you? If you have video tutorials, do they actually play when they should? Does your photo section scroll properly? Are they ever redirected to other websites and unable to find their way back to yours?
If at any point in their audit things become unclear or don’t work properly, you have two options.

Is Your Website Responsive?
Responsiveness is the tech word for whether your website has the same capabilities on mobile devices that it does on computer screens. According to Google Analytics, 68% of website visits came from a mobile device in 2020. That’s the year we were all home for 3+ months. So we had access to computers, yet we still leaned toward our mobile devices.
If your website does not function properly on a mobile device, you are missing out on a big opportunity to impress future customers and make your current customers happy. If your website is not responsive that is a clear indicator that your website needs to be redesigned.
Has Your Business Changed?
Life happens, businesses grow, priorities change. Your website should reflect your current business, current products or services, and current branding and identity. If these aspects of your business have changed, it is essential to redesign your website for your potential customers. You will want your website to represent your business in the best light possible and that is only possible if you are displaying the things your business does best right now.
Think about how you want your current business to be viewed, the things you want people talking about when they discuss your business, and make sure that your website is making your business shine.
If you are asking yourself if it is time to redesign your website, the answer is probably yes if it is not user friendly, not responsive, or if your business has changed and your website is not reflecting that change. With an updated website, you might find that your business is being noticed in a way that increases your leads and profits long term.
